Nine days ago my friend Frank fell off his horse. He was found by me. My journey that morning was to deliver eggs and
thankfully I was able to see him and get him to the ER. I was shocked to see him sitting on a trailer with a bleeding head
and barely able to move. The ER did X-rays
on every part of him and did a CT scan on his head. No other breaks but
the ribs.
The following days we experienced three more trips to ERs because he had breathing concerns and had been warned of watching out for pneumonia plus he had terrible pain in his right shoulder and finally we found an Orthopedic doctor who gave him a steroid shot that began treating that pain immediately.
He is the 76 year old baby boy of his family and that left only me to care of him. He fell on his left side breaking two ribs. He hit his head and bruised his shoulders. Thankfully we only live ten minutes apart and I have been able to care for him, his three dogs, the one horse and three mules. He has a good friend who checked on him also. He brought his work crew to take care of the yard around the house. A few of his neighbors kept and eye on him as well.
Frank will have to miss the trail ride he had planned in four weeks. Hopefully that will be all he has to miss because he is planning (and paid up for) a hunting trip to Alaska in 6 weeks.
